MEMPHIS, Tenn. (February 26, 2022) - The Rhodes Lynx fell in their SAA season opener on Saturday, losing 9-0 to the Berry Vikings. Rhodes now stands at 7-2 on the season and 0-1 against SAA opponentsĀ
After both teams went down in order in the first, the Vikings exploded for four runs in the second. The Lynx recorded two outs, but a passed ball allowed a run to come in. Moments later, a bases clearing double off the bat of Katie White made the score 4-0. Anna Jackson then homered in the third to make it 5-0. In the top of the fifth, Morgan Frye hit a grand slam to make the final score of 9-0. With Rhodes unable to put a run across in their half, the game was called due to mercy rule.Ā
Katelyn Siekerka had the only hit of the day for Rhodes, a double in the fourth inning. She has hit safely in all nine games played this year.
These two teams will be back at it on Sunday with a doubleheader. Should the weather allow it, first pitch is scheduled for noon and then 2:00 pm for game two.Ā
