Game One
Berry 1, Rhodes 0
Despite the low score, both teams had multiple opportunities to put runs on the board, but solid pitching from both sides kept the score low. In the top of the first, the Vikings had runners on second and third, but Madison String field got a strikeout and a flyout to end the threat. In the second, Berry had runners on second and third with no out, as well as the bases loaded with one out, but could not put a run on the board thanks to Stringfield's gritty performance. Rhodes loaded the bases in the third with one out, forcing the Vikings into a pitching change. Hannah Gore, who earned the win on Saturday, promptly forced a groundout and then struck out
Cam Ferguson to end the inning.
Aleeya Thornton started the fifth with a single, and then stole second. She was immediately brought in on Anna Jackson's double to right center to make it 1-0. Rhodes put the tying run at third with two out in the sixth, but a
Madison Granberry fly ball to center had too much air and was caught to quell the Lynx threat. Rhodes then received a double from
Hannah Grace Roden in the seventh, but she was thrown out at third, ending the Lynx chances as they fell 1-0.
Stringfield was great in her start for Rhodes, with a complete game, seven innings, six hits, one run, and seven strikeouts.
Game Two
Berry 4, Rhodes 1
Rhodes had a great chance to score early in game two, with a runners on the corners in the first inning, but could not bring them in. After a quiet second inning on both ends, Berry put two on the board in the top of the third with a pair of RBI doubles. Rhodes got one back in the bottom half thanks to a walk and steal from
Leslie Matherne who would then end up scoring on a wild pitch. The Lynx had two runners on with only one out, but the next two hitters popped out to the infield to end the rally.
Katie White hit a two-run home run in the fifth to put Berry up 4-1. That would end up being the final score as Rhodes could not put together any type of rally in their final three innings at the plate.
Katelyn Siekerka had a single in each game, extending her hitting-streak to all eleven games played this year.
Next up for the Lynx is a month of raod games. They will have SAA weekend series at Birmngham Southern and Sewanee, and then spend spring break in Florida.
