MEMPHIS, Tenn. (February 26, 2022) - The University of Chicago Maroons earned their first win of the season with a 9-0 shutout against the Rhodes Lynx. The loss moves Rhodes to 5-4-1 on the season. 

Chicago took advantage of some sloppy defense  from the Lynx, who committed four errors in the game. A leadoff double and a throwing error brought in the a run in the top of the first for the Maroons. They followed that up with two in the second thanks to a two-run single from Truman Pierson. Pierson added another RBI in the fourth as well. Chicago would then go on to score two in the seventh and three in the ninth to make the final of 9-0. 

The Rhodes offense must have been affected by the chilly temperatures because they could not get their bats hot. The Lynx only managed three hits on the day, and only saw a runner reach second base two times. Wood Kimbrough, Ben Wilson, and Mitchell O'Berry had one hit each for te offense. 

Rhodes will wrap up their weekend with a game against Alma College at 2:00 pm on Sunday. It will be the third time in five days that the Scots and Lynx face each other. Rhodes has won the previous two contests.
