Rhodes Season Comes to an End at Hendrix

Hendrix defeated Rhodes on Sunday afternoon

CONWAY, Ark. (February 20, 2022) - The Rhodes Lynx season has come to an end following a loss to the Hendrix Warriors in the first round of the SAA playoffs. The Lynx finish the year 10-15 (5-9 SAA), their best record since the 2017-18 season.

The Lynx struggled getting shots to fall from the floor. Mac James tied the game at two with a floater a minute in, but Rhodes would not convert another field goal attempt until six minutes later on a Jefferson Walker three-point play. Despite the offensive struggles, the team's defense was keeping them within striking distance. Walker connected on a pair of threes around the ten-minute mark, and Seth Aeschliman added a shot from the paint to make it 25-15. From there, Hendrix went on an extended scoring run that was not snapped until three minutes to go in the first half on a Kevin Shen free throw. The halftime score was 42-16 in favor of the Warriors.

The second half started the same way as the first, with an early bucket (a Jalen Essick three) followed by missed opportunities. Again, the defense did their part, limiting the Warriors to eight points in the first six minutes of the half. Jeremiah Cook converted three makes in a short span of time, but the lead for Hendrix had grown insurmountable. Rhodes was able to clear the bench and make sure everyone saw court time, but it ultimately led to a disappointing end to the season.

Jefferson Walker led the Lynx with nine points.
