Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Los Lynx Fall to UT Dallas

The Rhodes Lynx fell to the University at Dallas Comets on Sunday afternoon after a hard-fought game.

The 1st quarter was a defensive battle with 6 lead changes and 8 ties. The Lynx held the Comets to 28.6% shooting from the field, continuing their hot defensive start on the season. On the offensive end of the floor, the Lynx were led by their dymanic duo, Alexys Mathangani (5pts) and Catherine Althoff (4pts). Mathangani is currently 1st in the SAA in scoring and Althoff is 2nd in the SAA. The Lynx had a moment of separation, but the Comets were able to rally before the buzzer and tied it at 14 heading into the 2nd.

The 2nd saw the Lynx get hot from the floor. They went 6-9 from the field (66.7%) and got a huge spark off the bench from Taylor Dupree, 9 points and 4-4 from the field. Despite the hot shooting, the Comets continued to hang around, only allowing the Lynx lead to get to 4. The Comets stayed in the game by locking down defensively and forcing Lynx turnovers (6 in the 2nd). The Comets finished the half with 10 points off turnovers, and closed the gap at half after a Diane Hurst jumper (9 pts in the 1st half). Despite the Comets' defensive rally, the Lynx led 29-27 heading into the 3rd.

The 2nd half was action-packed on the offensive end. After trading baskets and many lead changes to open the half, the Comets were able to take control of the game late in the 3rd after clutch 3pt shooting. The Lynx, led by Mathangani with 11 2nd half points, unfortunately could not close the gap in the half as the Comets continued their hot shooting from three. The Comets finished the 2nd half with 7 threes and shot 10-13 from the field in the 4th. The Comets held onto the lead until the buzzer, defeating the Lynx 67-51.

The Lynx look to bounce back in their next game  on Dec. 2 at Webster University.
