CONWAY, Ark. (January 3, 2022) - The Rhodes men's basketball team dropped their third straight game on Monday afternoon, falling to the Hendrix College Warriors by a score of 78-56. The loss moves Rhodes to 5-6 (0-1 SAA) on the year while Hendrix improves to 8-4 (1-0 SAA).
Hendrix set the tone early with an 8-0 run to start the game. A
Kevin Shen jumper put the Lynx on the board, but they would not score again until four minutes later on a
Jefferson Walker jumper. At that point, the score was 18-4. The Lynx made a small run with about five minutes left in the first half, with three straight buckets from
Zavien Williams,
Jeremiah Cook, and
TJ Clayton, but they still trailed 46-20 at the half.
Mac James and
David Fitzgerald hit a pair of threes as part of a 10-4 in the second half, but Hendrix continued to maintain the pace of the game. Fitzgerald turned in a strong performance in the second half, netting five shots from the field in the second half. Rhodes was able to rip off eleven straight points in the final minutes to bring the score to its final of 78-56.
Fitzgerald led the Lynx offense with 15 points. He was the only player in double figures for Rhodes. On a positive note, eleven different players found their way into the scorebook for the Lynx.
