Box Score Memphis - With only one game left in the season, and a perfect 4-0 mark against Southern Athletic Association opponents after today's 29-2 victory over Berry College, Rhodes College women's lacrosse will earn at least a share of the regular season title in 2021. This will mark their fifth straight regular season SAA Championship. Today's win also ensures the Lynx host the SAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament April 23-25.
Celebrating Senior Day at halftime of their 10th straight victory, the Lynx limited Berry to three shots, all of which were taken in the first half. Rhodes held a 28-7 ground ball advantage and a 21-11 draw control advantage. The Lynx scored the first seven goals of the game on their way to a 12-2 run. Rhodes closed out the first half with six straight goals to lead 18-2 before collecting another 11 in the second half. Rhodes also recorded four man-down goals including three in a row in the first half.
Rhodes had 11 players score in the victory, led by
Payton Bennett's six goals and two assists.
Aidan Pike tallied four goals and three assists while
Baylee Barker recorded four goals and two assists to go along with her nine draw controls and five ground balls.Â
Carina Wesker and
Chloe Parker each had a career high of five points today which included a hat trick.Â
Isabella Sklena scored the final goal of the game, the first of her collegiate career.Â
Each senior also contributed on the day as
Hannah Swinerton tallied three ground balls and a caused turnover early in the game.
KK Mulholland scored two goals and defender
Teasha Dogra's pressure defense helped the Vikings commit 30 turnovers.
The Lynx will earn the outright title with a victory at Hendrix College next Saturday. Earlier this year, Rhodes defeated the Warriors 23-3. First draw in Conway, Ark. on Saturday, March 17 is at 11 a.m.
