Lynx Sweep Colonels in Back-to-Back Wins

MEMPHIS- Rhodes (12-14) started the weekend off strong. Facing the Colonels (3-15) in their final home series of the regular season, Rhodes swept the day with back-to-back 4-2 wins.

Game 1
Madison Keller set the tone by striking out the first Colonel to the plate. The first-year would go on to strike out an additional eight batters across seven innings. It would be a quick first inning with three-up, three-down. Centre broke the stalemate in the second inning and would go on to keep a 2-0 lead for four innings. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs, Madison Granberry broke the tension as the first Lynx on base that inning, hitting a single through the left side. With two more singles to follow, the bases were now fully loaded. Senior Samantha Feinstein hit a low one up the middle giving both Granberry and Peyton Clark time to run it home and tie the game. Siekerka would follow up with a double on a high shot to center field to bring in Feinstein and Madison Stringfield for the final two runs.

Granberry went 2-for-2, the only Lynx with more than one hit in the game. Keller earned the win in the circle, her fourth of the season.

Game 2
Senior Lauren King also set the tone on the first pitch striking out the first batter with another quick top of the inning to follow. The Lynx were the first on the board as Stringfield made it home after advancing to second on a passed ball and stealing third. Rhodes would go on to keep a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth when Clark, who led off with a double and advanced to third on a groundout, seized the opportunity off a wild pitch to make it a two-run lead.

Centre threatened in the top of the fifth after the Colonels loaded the bases with one out. King struck out a Colonel before Marisa Moore made a diving catch in right field to finish the top half of the inning. The Lynx tallied two more runs in the bottom of the fifth after Siekerka doubled, stole third, and then was singled in on King's hit through the left side. Moore followed soon after with an unearned run. Centre avoided the shutout in the top of the sixth bringing in two batters on a walk, double, and groundout, but the rally was short lived as King struck out the final batter.

King earned the complete-game victory while she, Siekerka and Stringfield each tallied two hits.
