Atlanta, Ga. - Rhodes College men's soccer held the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels scoreless for the first half, but a red card right before halftime put the Lynx defense on edge for the remainder of the game, having only 10 players on the field. Oglethorpe was able to take advantage in the 52nd minute for the lone goal of the game.
The two teams entered the game with 2-0 records in what would be a pivotal conference matchup. Oglethorpe has now won 29 straight SAA contests.
The Stormy Petrels also were handed a red card, but only in the 88th minute, to finally put the two squads on level playing ground.
Oglethorpe held an 11-3 shot advantage, but both teams made two shots on goal.
Nic DiMauro made both threats for the Lynx while
Nico DeFilippis also tallied a shot in the game.
Six total cards were issued in the game. Each team also tallied two yellow cards in addition to one red card each.
Rhodes will meet up with Berry on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
