Jackson, Miss. - Rhodes opened their four-game series against Millsaps College with 8-0 and 9-7 losses to the Majors on Saturday. The Lynx drop to 6-11 on the season while Millsaps is now 10-5.
Game 1
Millsaps went up 1-0 with two outs in the first inning before adding two more runs in the second on two hits, a wild pitch, stolen base and a walk. The Lynx stranded two in the top of the fifth after opening the inning with two singles. Rhodes kept one Major run at by on a fielder's choice from third to home in the bottom half of the inning, but the Majors added another run after a Lynx error. Millsaps ended the game early after plating four runs in the sixth on four hits, a walk and another Rhodes error.
Hannah Grace Roden was the only multi-hit Lynx in the game. She went 2-for-2.
Game 2
Rhodes blasted open game two with five runs in the first on five hits and a Millsaps error. The Lynx recorded four straight singles in the inning which scored the first run before the error extended the inning and allowed four more runs to cross. A Lynx error in the second allowed the Majors to plate two runs before Rhodes went up by five runs again in the third on three hits and a double steal. Millsaps scored two in the bottom half of the inning on three singles and a hit by pitch.
Rhodes led 7-4 before Millsaps took over in the fourth inning with five runs after earning four walks and two hits. The Majors also took advantage of two passed balls, a wild pitch and a stolen base.
Pitcher
Madison Stringfield went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the game while shortstop
Madison Granberry went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The two teams will wrap up conference play in their noon game tomorrow and will complete the weekend with a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m.
