Sophomore Alexys Mathangani has been named SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the Southern Athletic Association on February 8, 2021.

Mathangani averaged 18.5 points per game this past weekend as the Lynx went 2-0  against Berry. The forward recorded multiple career-highs on Friday and her block with three seconds left in Friday's game helped secure the 64-62 victory. Mathangani recorded single-game career-highs of 20 points, three blocks and seven made free throws in the win and added six rebounds.
 
In Sunday's 74-59 win over the Vikings, Mathangani scored 17 points and tallied another six rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.
 
On the weekend, she averaged 2.5 blocks per game, 6 rebounds per game and 18.5 points per game with a .636 shooting percentage (14-of-22). She also went 8-of-10  at the free throw line.
 
Mathangani leads the conference averaging 1.6 blocks per game and has 13 on the season, all against SAA opponents.

The Lynx look ahead to two road games this week in Jackson, Miss. Rhodes will take on the undefeated Majors beginning around 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by a 2 p.m. tip-off Sunday.
