Memphis - Rhodes College men's basketball suffered dropped two games to Southern Athletic Association opponent Berry College over the weekend. Berry is now 6-0 on the season while Rhodes falls to 0-6. Berry earned the 79-41 victory on Saturday and 83-44 victory on Sunday.
Game 1
The Lynx struggled shooting after not playing a game in two weeks. Rhodes shot just over 16 percent in the field in the first half while Berry shot 40 percent and held a 35-11 lead at the half. Rhodes' shooting improved to 37 percent in the second half as the Lynx secured 30 points. Berry, however, went 17-of-27 for a .630 shooting percentage in the second half as the Vikings outscored the Lynx with 44 points.
Hayden Lamey tallied seven points in the loss while four lynx recorded five points each.
Mac James led the boards with six rebounds.
Game 2
With Rhodes trailing by just two points (16-14), Berry scored 14 points in a row on their way to a 20-5 run to finish the first half with a 36-19 advantage. The Vikings continued to shoot hot with 16 unanswered points to open the second half. Berry's run was cut by a three-pointer from Lynx sophomore
Jefferson Walker. Berry continued to push their offense and secured eight treys in the second half and held a .518 shooting percentage overall. The Vikings also shot 42.3 percent from the arc going 11-of-26 in the game.
The Lynx were led by
Kevin Shen's 11 points and
Jackson Hiester's six rebounds. As a team, the Lynx shot 29.5 percent in the field while Berry held a 45-29 rebounding advantage.
Rhodes is slated to travel to Millsaps College February 12-13th. Friday's game is at 6 p.m. while Saturday's time has been pushed back to 4 p.m. due to a home football game for the Majors.
