Mequon, Wis. - Rhodes College field hockey prevailed in overtime on Sunday, defeating Centre College 1-0 to earn their sixth SAA Tournament Championship. Rhodes advanced to the championship game after a 6-0 victory over Concordia Wisconsin. The Colonels advanced after defeating Sewanee 4-0.
Rhodes snapped an eight-game win streak for Centre field hockey when first year
Grace Utz reverse shot the game-winner from the left side of the goal into the back right corner in the 66th minute.
During the game, the Lynx defense held steadfast during Centre's seven corners while
Riley Marzola made five saves. The Colonels held a 10-6 shot advantage with each team recording three shots in the first period.
Centre and Rhodes are the only two SAA teams to advance to field hockey tournament championships in the league's history.

Rhodes finished the season 9-6 overall with a 3-1 SAA record under first year head coach Katie Gerzabeck Salem. The team's lone conference loss came on a penalty shootout against Centre after a double overtime tie. Rhodes finished the year on a four-game win streak.
