MEMPHIS, Tenn. (November 30, 2021) – Following a 7-1 start to the season, the Rhodes Lynx women's basketball team has earned the #20 spot in the WBCA poll as well as the #23 position in the d3hoops.com Week 1 poll.

The expectations for the Lynx were high coming into the season, as they were picked to finish second in the SAA preseason coaches poll. They have lived up to the hype through eight games, posting a record of 7-1. They lost their season opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor 73-72, and have since won seven straight, including a victory over then #2 East Texas Baptist on November 7th.
Rhodes has poured in 659 points in their eight contests, the second-highest total in all of Division III. They are averaging 82.4 points per game, while allowing only 62.5.
Kiera Downey has a one-point edge over
Alli Mayeux for the team lead in points, 124-123. Mayeux has also been a monster on the boards, pulling in 81 rebounds, tied for 5
th most in the country.
The Lynx will hit the road this weekend, heading to Atlanta to face the Emory Eagles on Saturday, December 4
th, followed by a matchup with Mississippi University for Women on Sunday the 5
th. They will then have a month off before picking things up on January 3
rd at Hendrix.
