Men's Lacrosse Wrapped Up Spring Break at No. 1 Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. - Rhodes College men's lacrosse wrapped up their Northeastern spring break trip against No. 1-ranked Salisbury Monday night. The Sea Gulls defeated the Lynx 22-5 to improve to 6-0 on the year. The Lynx are now 5-2 overall.

Rhodes won the opening face-off but the Sea Gulls capitalized on several Rhodes passing miscues during the game. Rhodes held the Sea Gulls to three goals for most of the first quarter until the national contenders scored with six seconds left in the opening frame.

After Salisbury scored three goals to open the second quarter, the Lynx netted back-to-back goals from Tyler Pellegrino and Ryan Dancy. Christian Cisneros and Pellegrino picked up assists on the man-up goals, Rhodes' only two goals of the first half.

After Salisbury held a 9-2 lead at halftime, Dancy scored the lone Lynx goal of the third quarter which broke up a Salisbury seven-goal run. Salisbury led 15-3 at the end of 45 minutes of play when Matt Perez opened the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal 46 seconds into the final frame. After four Sea Gull goals, Cisneros served up Addison Mueller for another man-up goal for Rhodes with 6:50 remaining. Salisbury finished the game with three more goals.

Brendan Roberts made 20 saves in cage for the Lynx while Stephen Miller stopped five shots. Salisbury's defense caused 14 of Rhodes' 20 turnovers while the Sea Gulls also held a 52-21 ground ball advantage. Offensively, Salisbury won 24 of the 30 face-offs and out-shot the Lynx 63-28.

Rhodes will return to Memphis to open conference play on Friday when they host Berry College at 4 p.m.
