Winter Haven - The No. 12 Rhodes College Lynx and SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons honored their seniors before their final contest of the 2020 campaign. The Lynx played 27 different players during the game and allowed a few players to play out of position to end the season in style. Rhodes ended their season the way every team wants to end their year, with a win. The Lynx defeated the Red Dragons 11-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Top of 1st inning: Chris Penna got the Lynx on the board early as he mashed a ball into the left field bleachers to plate the first run of the ballgame (1-0).
Bottom of 1st inning: The Red Dragons answered right back as a walk, single, and an error brought home the tying run (1-1).
Bottom of 2nd inning: Oneonta capitalized off of a pair of walks and hits to take the lead (2-1).
Top of 3rd inning: Senior pitcher Alex Garrett getting the nod as the starting second baseman, smoked a single through the right side and then stole second to get himself in scoring position. A wild pitch advanced Garrett to third, which then was able to come home as Paul Giacomazzi hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield (2-2). Will Heurtin followed with a bunt base hit and later scored from a throwing error by the catcher (3-2).
Top of 4th inning: Senior pitcher Trey Sledge stepped up to the plate as the designated hitter and was able to launch a ball over the left field wall to extend the Lynx lead (4-2). Â
Bottom of 4th inning: The Red Dragons knotted things up as a two run home run cleared the left field wall (4-4).
Top of 5th inning: Senior Nathan Mirochnick led off the inning with a walk. Giacomazzi doubled him in and put himself in scoring position (5-4). Senior John Medich smoked a single up the middle to plate another run for the Lynx (6-4). Senior Seth Rohlwing singled to right field to load up the bases. Senior pitcher Carter King singled to left center which brought home two more runs for Rhodes (8-4).
Bottom of 5th inning: Oneonta singled home another run to chip away at the Lynx lead (8-5).
Top of 6th inning: Giacomazzi and Heurtin reached base safely by a hit by pitch and walk and later came in to score after Wood Kimbrough doubled to center field (10-5).
Top of 8th inning: Kimbrough brought the game to its final score with a single through the left side which plated Giacomazzi (11-5).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ten different Lynx recorded a base knock in the ballgame. Giacomazzi, Penna, Kimbrough, and King led the way with two each. Sam Roffwarg, Heurtin, Medich, Rohlwing, Sledge, and Garrett tallied a hit.
- Senior pitchers Medich, King, and Sledge were able to knock in a run during the contest. King led the way with two RBIs.Â
- Sledge and Penna each recorded a home run. This brings Penna's total to five on the season. Sledge's big fly gives him his first tallied base hit, RBI, and homer, all in one.
- Kimbrough led the offensive attack with three RBIs in the game. Giacomazzi finished with two.
- Senior pitcher Andy Shreves was able to record his first win as he tossed two innings, while holding the Red Dragons to two runs and striking out two batters.
- Giacomazzi tossed his first inning, on the mound, in his career. He held the opposition to one run (unearned), while striking out two.
- John Fears, Chayton Gray, Garrett, and King combined for four scoreless innings in relief.Â
