Orlando, Fla. - Rhodes College men's tennis finished their abbreviated 2019-20 campaign with an 8-1 win over Washington College Friday.
In doubles,
Frank Stich and
Phil Lauture won 8-2 at No. 1 while
Andrew Morton and
Ryan Crump held off their No. 2 opponents 8-6. The big win of the night was at No. 3 doubles where
Daniel Trudell and
Ritwik Chatterjee won 8-5. The win marked Chatterjee's 118th career victory, putting him in sole ownership of the program's combined singles and doubles victories.
In singles, Chatterjee increased that new mark to 119 after winning at No. 1 6-1, 6-2. The Lynx then won singles at No. 3 (Trudell 6-1, 6-0), No. 5 (
Alex Lloyd 6-0, 6-1) and No. 6 (Stich 6-3, 6-2) to go up 7-0. Morton fell behind 4-6 at No. 5 singles before his shut down his opponent 6-0. The senior then battled to a 12-14 third set loss, playing a career-high number of games in a single set. A fellow senior, Lauture, finished the day with a win at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-2.
Rhodes completes their tough abbreviated schedule with a 7-7 record. After the match the Lynx celebrated their three seniors with fans in attendance. In four days Rhodes played six matches, going 4-2.
