Sarasota, Fla. - Rhodes College women's lacrosse defeated Ohio Wesleyan 25-10 to open spring break play Tuesday. The win improves the Lynx to 5-2 on the year while OWU drops to 2-3.
Official statistics were not kept during the game, so we'll give a brief synopsis of bench stats for now.
A close game at the beginning, Rhodes led 4-3 until the Lynx held a halftime lead of 12-7 (or 13-7). Either way, the Lynx defense held the Battling Bishops to just three goals in the second half and just one goal in the final 19 minutes of the game.
Rhodes edged OWU in draw controls 20-17 with
Baylee Barker recording eight draws. Offensively,
Aidan Pike led Rhodes with nine goals, the second highest number of goals scored in a single game in program history. Pike was on a roll early, scoring three of Rhodes' first five goals. She also added an assist in the game while
Madison Rubino recorded two goals and two assists.
Carina Wesker tallied four goals and
Payton Bennett three goals and one assist. Barker finished the game with three goals and an assist. Her first goal of the game, the team's 12th, was her 100th career goal.
Emily Bruner added another two goals and
Izzy Parker tallied a goal. Rhodes' final goal of the game came from
Chandler Dahn who recorded her first collegiate goal.
Defensively, Bruner and
Meghan Weatherly each recorded three caused turnovers.
Rhodes will now face Dickinson College on Thursday, in Bradenton, Fla. at St. Stephens Episcopal at 1 p.m. ET.
