Memphis - The No. 24 Rhodes College Lynx took on the No. 3 Panthers of Birmingham-Southern College Sunday afternoon. The Panthers were able to hold on to the 8-3 victory, which snapped the Lynx 10-game win streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Top of 1st inning: The Panthers grabbed an early lead as they hit a two run home run in the first frame (2-0).
Top of 2nd inning: BSC extended their lead as a double in the right center gap plated another run (3-0).
Top of 3rd inning: Birmingham-Southern added two more to their total as a double brought home run and then a groundout to the catcher scored another (5-0).
Bottom of 3rd inning: The Lynx got on the board when Will Hueurtin was able to score on a wild pitch (5-1). Paul Giacomazzi extended his hitting streak to 13 consecutive games with a single in the inning.
Top of 5th inning: The Panthers capitalized off of three hits in the inning as a double to right center plated two more runs (7-1).
Bottom of 5th inning: Peter York doubled to center field to lead off the inning. Heurtin followed with an infield hit, which was fielded by the shortstop and thrown away to score York and move Heurtin to second.
Top of 6th inning: A BSC solo home run added another run to their total (8-2).
Bottom of 9th inning: Heurtin led off the inning with a single and advancing to second on an error by the right fielder. John McNair singled Heurtin in to chip away at the BSC lead, but the Panthers were able to hold on to the 8-3 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Heurtin led the Lynx offense as he recorded four base knocks in the contest. Chris Penna, McNair, and York followed with two hits each. McNair recorded the only Rhodes RBI.
- Giacomazzi extended his hitting streak to 13 consecutive contests and 14 straight dating back to last season.
- 26 hits were recorded in the ballgame. BSC finished with 14 and the Lynx tallied 12.
- Andy Shreves tossed 2.1 impressive innings for Rhodes, while allowing only one hit, one run, and striking out a hitter. John Fears and Jaxon Cady combined for a scoreless 1.2 innings in relief.

Rhodes continues their home play as they take on conference foe Hendrix College on Sat., Mar. 7th. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
