Birmingham, Ala. - Rhodes College softball fell to Birmingham-Southern to open conference play Saturday. The Lynx fell 5-1 and 3-1 and look to avoid the series sweep in Sunday's lone contest. The Lynx are now 6-5 on the year while BSC improves to 6-4. 

Game One
After both teams left two runners on base in the second inning, the Lynx crossed home first when Anna Kula scored on a Marisa Moore sac fly to centerfield. BSC tied the game in the bottom of the third with a leadoff home run. The Panthers then tallied three runs on four hits and a stolen base in the fourth inning. The hosts concluded scoring on a double and throwing error in the fifth inning. 

During the first game, Hannah Grace Roden recorded the only hit for the Lynx, when she singled up the middle to lead off the second inning. Lauren King suffered her first loss of the season. She struck out three in six innings and allowed one walk and eight hits. 

Game Two
Three of the game's four runs were scored in the second inning before BSC added an insurance run in the sixth. With two outs and a runner on third, Taylor Clark singled to left to bring in Lauren King and earn the first run of the game. Two BSC singles and a sac bunt put runners at second and third with one out in the bottom half of the inning. A fielding error scored the Panthers two runs, including the game-winner on their fourth batter of the inning. Another Lynx error in the sixth plated BSC's third run of the game. 

Marisa Moore, King and Clark earned one hit each in the game. In the circle, Madison Keller picked up the loss while striking out three Panthers.

Rhodes and BSC will meet at noon Sunday to complete the series.
