Conway, Ark. - Rhodes College volleyball fell to host Hendrix College in their conference opener Saturday before turning around and sweeping Louisiana College. The Lynx are now 6-4 on the year.
Hendrix
Rhodes trailed 11-20 in the first set before a Warrior 6-2 run broke open the first set. Hendrix won 25-17 before the Lynx took an 8-6 second set advantage. Hendrix went on a 13-3 run before taking the second set 25-16. The hosts then took an early lead in the third set for the shutout. In the game,
Marissa Hall (libero) recorded the game-high 13 digs while
Kelsey Glasper hit .286 (6-of-21) and
Gabrielle White .300 (4-of-10).
Hendrix is now 6-2 on the season with wins against No. 14-WashU (3-2) and No. 24- Ill. Wesleyan (3-0). Teh Warriors were swept by No. 13-Chicago a week ago.
Louisana College
Tied 6-6 in the first set, Rhodes went on an 8-2 run on their way to a 25-16 victory which included Rhodes earning each of the last four points of the set. A 9-2 run for the Lynx started the second set before Louisiana College pulled within one (13-12). The Lynx maintained the lead after going on a 7-1 run and six straight points for a 20-13 advantage. After a 25-17 second set victory, Rhodes took another early lead in the third frame before closing out the game.
Glasper again hit .286, this time going 11-of-28 while also recorded 13 digs for a double-double. Hall totaled 15 digs, White hit .571 (8-of-14) and
Heather Antrim hit .500 (5-of-8). Antrim was also part of four blocks and Glasper recorded a team-high three service aces.
Rhodes will take on Texas Lutheran at 10 a.m. Sunday followed by Huntingdon at 4 p.m.
