Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Cousins Team Up for Overtime Victory Against Earlham

Richmond, Ind. - Rhodes College field hockey improved to 2-0 Saturday after a 4-3 overtime victory at Earlham College.

Earlham scored early after a penalty corner, their only corner of the first half. The Lynx answered near the end of the first quarter when senior Hailey Mules tied the game on her first goal of the season. The Lynx then took a 2-1 lead early in the second quarter after Ashley Neiswender connected on her first goal of the season as well. Earlham made sure to tie the game before the half. At halftime, the Lynx held a 12-3 shot advantage and an 8-1 corner advantage.

The Quakers took their second lead of the game early in the third quarter in the 34th minute. Mules came through and tied the game in the fourth quarter (50th minute) to force overtime. Two big saves from senior goalkeeper Nina Migneco kept the Lynx alive during the fifth frame. Junior defender Meghan Harmon came up with the ball in the 69th minute and after dribbling down field, served it into the center of the circle where her cousin, Mules, side-stepped a defender and scored the game-winner for a hat trick.

Migneco finished the game with six saves including four in the third quarter. Rhodes held a 15-3 corner advantage and a 22-10 shot advantage.

The Lynx are back in action Sunday at Wittenberg University at 1 p.m. ET.
