Sewanee, Tenn. - Rhodes College softball defeated swept Sewanee 7-0 and 10-0 Saturday to win their fourth conference series of the season. In the process, Rhodes seniors
Kendall Henry and
Bri Maniscalco have etched their names among all-time Lynx leaders, both setting new records in game two. Maniscalco is now the all-time leader in pitching appearances (100) as she also picked up her first career no-hitter while Henry now has 48 doubles to lead the program.
Game One
Lauren King got the start and allowed just one hit over seven innings. Sewanee earned the hit in the fifth inning on a single while King fanned five Panthers. At the plate King homered while
Jill Healy and
Taylor Clark both doubled twice. The game-winning run came in the second inning on an RBI groundout for King after Healy led off with a double to score the run. The Lynx then crossed three runs on four hits in the third followed by another two runs in the fourth inning. King capped off game one scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.
Game Two
Making her record breaking appearance, Maniscalco pitched her first career no hitter and Rhodes' second of the year during the second game of the day. At the plate,
Samantha Feinstein and Healy both hit two-run homers to help the Lynx get ahead by six after five innings. The game-winning run crossed home in the second after
Leslie Matherne doubled in
Anna Kula. The Lynx tallied another four runs in the seventh on six hits and a walk. Henry picked up her 14th double in her opening at-bat to earn her 48th career double. Healy and
Marisa Moore both recorded three RBI in the win.
Rhodes will look to sweep Sewanee on Sunday at 12 p.m. before returning to Memphis to host Blue Mountain College on April 11.
