Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Rhodes College men's tennis fell to No. 20-ranked Sewanee Saturday in the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Championship. The second place finish is the highest for the Lynx since 2013.
The Lynx went up 2-1 in doubles, as the No. 10 regionally ranked Lynx duo of
P.J. Shaw and
Andrew Morton downed Sewanee's No. 13 regionally ranked team 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Sewanee took No. 2 doubles 8-3 before
Frank Stich and
Alex Lloyd won at No. 3 doubles 8-2.Â
Sewanee however overpowered the Lynx in singles, winning at the 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions to maintain the only team to ever win an SAA Men's Tennis Tournament Championship.
Rhodes concludes the season 14-7 overall and will lose
Sairam Gudiseva and
Sean Hogan to graduation.
