Chattanooga, Tenn. - Rhodes College softball found themselves down 5-1 against No. 2 seeded Berry College in the second round of the 2019 SAA Tournament. The Lynx ground out the comeback victory with five straight runs to post a 6-5 win over the Vikings. Berry then bowed out of the tournament after falling to Centre 8-2.
Four runs in the third gave Berry a 5-1 advantage until two walks eventually scored for Rhodes in the fifth. With two outs and the bases loaded,
Shannon Tierney hit a two-RBI single up the middle to pull Rhodes within two. Rhodes reached first on an error to lead off the sixth inning. A fielder's choice and sac bunt later put the tying run at second base when Berry decided to bring in a new pitcher and move three other fielders around.
Lauren King tied the game on Rhodes' second two-RBI single up the middle of the day. With two outs,
Marisa Moore singled in King from second for the game-winning run. Three straight flyouts for Berry ended the game.Â
