A Marisa Moore Two-Run Blast Sends Lynx to SAA Championship Game for Second Year in a Row

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Rhodes softball rebounded from a 6-1 loss to No. 8 ranked Birmingham-Southern College to earn a comeback victory over Millsaps College 5-4 in the seventh. The win keeps Rhodes' season alive as they advance to the Southern Athletic Association Championship game for the second time in as many years. The Lynx will face off against BSC once again at noon ET on Sunday, April 28th.

BSC
Rhodes scored first against the Panthers after Peyton Clark singled to lead off the game. She advanced to third on a passed ball and wild pitch before she scored on a Jill Healy groundout. In the second inning the Lynx stranded runners on second and third. Rhodes held BSC scoreless until the third period when a home run, two doubles and a sacrifice fly scored three runs. Another home run scored two of the three Panther runs in the sixth to round out the game.

Millsaps
Once again the Lynx jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after Healy's sacrifice fly scored Kendall Henry who doubled earlier. Millsaps scored all four of their runs in the second on a walk, three singles and a double. Lauren King came into the circle for Rhodes to finish the inning before she allowed a single to start the third and proceeded to strikeout each of the next three Majors to end the inning. With two outs for the Lynx in the fourth, Haley Rath was hit by pitch and went to second on an Anna Kula single. Rath then scored from second on a Samantha Feinstein single to left field. Rhodes scored another run in the fifth after Lauren King doubled to lead off and then scored on Healy single down the left field line. After a quiet sixth, Healey doubled with one out before Marisa Moore hit a two run blast to left field to score the winning run in the top of the seventh. King and the Lynx defense ended the game by sitting down the Majors in order.

Healy, King and Kula each recorded two hits against Millsaps. King picked up her 15th win of the season after striking out four in 5.1 innings in relief. The home run was Moore's first of the season and second career for the sophomore.

The Lynx have to win both games on Sunday in order to win the championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
