Chattanooga, Tenn. - The No. 3 seed, Rhodes College softball opened the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Tournament with a 4-2 victory over No. 6 seeded Millsaps College inside Frost Stadium Thursday afternoon.
Rhodes went up 1-0 in the second when sophomore
Samantha Feinstein singled in
Marisa Moore from second base. An error helped Millsaps take a 2-1 lead in the third after the tying run was tripled in. A groundout immediately following scored Millsaps' final run of the game.
In the fifth inning, Rhodes had two outs with
Haley Rath on third when an error by the Majors helped pro-long the inning, allowing Rhodes to score three more runs.
Jill Healy reached on the error to score Rath before
Shannon Tierney hit a two-RBI single to right field to score the winning run.
In the top of the seventh, Millsaps had runners on first and second before starting pitcher
Lauren King closed out her 14th win of the season on a groundout to put away the win.
Feinstein, Moore and Tierney each recorded two hits on the day while King and Rath tallied one. King struck out four Majors while the Majors only tallied one strikeout on the Lynx.
The Lynx will play at noon Eastern on Friday, April 26 against No. 2 seeded Berry College. Live stats for Field 1 should be available
