Lynx Return to Fifth Straight SAA Tournament Championship After 26-6 Victory Over Hendrix

Memphis - Rhodes College women's lacrosse came out in full force Saturday afternoon at Mason Field. The Lynx, the top seed in the SAA Tournament, hosted No. 5-seeded Hendrix College in semifinal action, defeating the Warriors 26-6. The win is the 10th in a row for the Lynx who will now host Centre College in the 2019 SAA Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Rhodes scored four goals in the first two minutes of the game, on their way to eight straight goals. Of those eight goals, freshman Sarah Delahunt, typically a defender, scored three of them, all three assisted by senior Annika Hedlund who totaled four assists on those eight goals. Hendrix then scored two of the next three goals, within two minutes of each other before Rhodes held a 19-2 lead at halftime.

The Lynx possessed the ball for the majority of the second half, utilizing the possession clock. During the game, Rhodes held a 23-9 draw control and 43-10 shot advantage. Hendrix committed 19 turnovers and only converted eight of 18 clear attempts.

Hedlund finished the game with a career-high six assists and is tied for second all-time at Rhodes with assists in a game. Freshman Baylee Barker recorded seven goals and two assists to lead the game with nine points while fellow classmates Peyton Bennett and Delahunt each netted five goals for career-highs. Barker also led the game with 12 draw controls while Hedlund tallied five.

Rhodes and Centre will meet for the third time at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 28 for the 2019 SAA Women's Lacrosse Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
