Lynx Limit Eagles to Two Runs in Split Tuesday

Memphis - Rhodes College softball suffered a tough one-run loss to Williams Baptist in game one on Tuesday before the Lynx rebounded with a 4-1 victory in game two. Rhodes will enter their final regular season series with a 23-12 record.

Game One
After three hitless innings, the lone run for the game came on a deep fly ball to center in the fourth inning. The leadoff hitter's ball went in and out of Rhodes' center fielder's glove before making it's way over the fence. Rhodes then had runners on second and third with zero outs in the bottom of the seventh before two strikeouts and a popup ended the game. Bri Maniscalco was electric for the Lynx in the circle. She struck out eight in the game, including two in the second after putting the Eagles away in order in each of the first two innings.

Game Two
Another solo home run, this time to lead off game two, was all the Eagles could muster in scoring on the day. With two outs in the second, Jill Healy was hit by a pitch and eventually scored the tying run on a Haley Rath single to left field. Marisa Moore led off the third with a single and was pinch ran by Kayla Rose who stole second base and then scored the winning run on a Samantha Feinstein double down the left field line. Teammate Anna Kula singled and after she thought about going to second, Feinstein stole home when the Eagles tried to catch Kula drifting off the base. Starting pitcher Lauren King put Williams Baptist down in order in the fifth before Kendall Henry plated the final run on a solo homer. King struck out five to earn the win.

Moore went 3-for-3 in game one while Henry and Feinstein each went 2-for-3 in the second game with an RBI and run scored.

The Lynx will host Hendrix in a doubleheader on Friday, April 19 at noon followed by a single game on Senior Day on Saturday, April 20.
