Kissimmee, Fla. - A sweep on day one of spring break ensures an 11-game win streak for Rhodes softball. The Lynx downed Misericordia 4-1 to open the week after an hour long rain delay. Rhodes then turned to Thiel, winning 10-3.
Misericordia
Nobody from Misericodia earned more than one hit off of starting pitcher
Lauren King who improves to 6-0 on the season. King allowed just one run, a solo home run, and struck out nine Cougars en route to the victory. She also went two-of-three at the plate and walked to bring in two RBI.
Jill Healy also went two-of-three.Â
King singled in Healy and
Leslie Matherne in the first to take an early lead but Misericordia's home run in the third cut that to one until a sac fly from Matherne and a single from Healy scored two more runs in the fourth to secure the win.Â
Thiel
Rhodes handed the President's Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, Jessica Kelley, her third loss of the season after she came in the game in relief in the first. Rhodes tallied 14 hits while both teams committed three errors. Thiel walked in a run in the first before Rhodes took a 2-1 lead on two walks and a
Kendall Henry double. Thiel tied the game with two outs after a walk and throwing error put them in scoring position. A single to right center scored the tying run before Matherne hit another sac fly to give Rhodes a 3-2 advantage. In the third, a fielding error by Thiel kept the Lynx alive. A single on a bunt from
Anna Kula loaded the bases for
Samantha Feinstein who drove in all three Lynx on a double to left center to give Rhodes some breathing room and tallying the game-winning RBI. In the top of the fourth, Thiel scored after a fielding error kept them alive, but three runs on four hits helped Rhodes seal the win in the bottom of the fourth. Matherne then doubled in the final run in the fifth.Â
Henry went three-of-four, tallied two RBI and scored once. Healy scored twice and Matherne finished with two RBI.
Bri Maniscalco, the Southern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, earned her seventh win of the season. She struck out three and threw 114 pitches.Â
Rhodes is now 13-1 as they look to Penn St.-Berks at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday before an evening 6 p.m. game against Muhlenberg in the sunshine state.Â
