Memphis - Rhodes College softball defeated NCAA Division II opponent Lane College 9-2 Wednesday afternoon. That marks the third win in a row for the Lynx who are now 19-8 on the season.
Lane College scored the first two runs of the game before the Lynx tied it in the bottom of the first. In the second inning,
Jill Healy hit a solo home run for the game-winning RBI before
Kendall Henry launched one over the fence in the same inning to put Rhodes up 5-2.
Bri Maniscalco entered the circle for Rhodes in the third and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit to earn the win. The Lynx scored four more runs in the sixth off five hits and an error. In the inning,
Peyton Clark hit a sacrifice fly to left field before Henry hit her second two-run home run of the day, scoring
Samantha Feinstein who doubled earlier. With two outs,
Lauren King, the designated player, doubled in
Kayla Rose for the final run of the game.
Henry recorded a 2.500 slugging percentage, with extra bases on all three hits on four at-bats. She totaled four RBI and crossed home three times. Healy went 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored while totaling a 1.667 slugging percentage. Both
Peyton Clark and
Taylor Clark walked twice.
Rhodes is off until they travel to Maryville College* on Tuesday for a doubleheader. The Lynx then stay on the road until April 11th when they host non-conference action against Blue Mountain College in a doubleheader.
