Baseball Splits Doubleheader with BSC

Birmingham, Ala. - Rhodes College baseball fell 6-5 in game one of their three-game series at Birmingham-Southern College Saturday. The Lynx rebounded with 10 hits on their way to a 10-2 victory over the Panthers.

Game One
Rhodes tallied three goals in the third before taking a 4-0 advantage in the sixth. BSC answered with six runs in the bottom of the sixth which included a grand slam. The Lynx scored once more in the eighth after two walks, an error and a fielder's choice. Jacob Dubs struck out seven in 5.1 innings of work, allowing three hits, four walks and five runs. Paul Giacomazzi, Jacob Telli and Wood Kimbrough all doubled with Kimbrough recording two doubles.

Game Two
Rhodes again scored first, crossing a run in the second before BSC tied the game in the bottom half of the inning. The Panthers hit a solo home run in the fourth for a brief lead until the Lynx scored three in the fifth to take the lead for good. A single to right center from Telli scored the tying and winning runs. He then scored on a balk. The Lynx added six runs in the sixth on four hits, a hit by pitch, four walks and two fielder's choices. 

Zach Liebenson and Jon Michael Lauck went two-of-three while Telli tallied three RBI and Giacomazzi earned three walks. Giacomazzi doubled once again while Liebenson recorded two doubles. 

The two teams will conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
