No. 20-Ranked Rhodes Softball Sweeps MUW

Columbus, Miss. - The No. 20-ranked Rhodes College softball team, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Wednesday morning, swept the Mississippi University for Women on the road 5-0 and 10-5 during a rare mid-week matchup. Rhodes improves to 9-1 on the season and earned their fifth shutout as the Lynx handed the Owls their first loss of the season.

Game One
Bri Maniscalco allowed just three hits and struck out six Owls in seven innings to earn her first full shutout of the season. The Lynx scored the game-winning run in the fourth inning after three singles and a fielder's choice. During the game, Rhodes tallied 14 hits and scored three runs in the fifth. During the fifth, the Lynx tallied four hits and a stolen base including a triple from Jill Healy and a double from Kendall Henry. Henry finished game one three-of-three at the plate.

Game Two
Rhodes led 4-0 until the Owls tallied two runs in the third. Peyton Clark scored on a Henry single up the middle in the fifth before MUW plated two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull within one. The Lynx pulled away after a three-run home run from Healy after Clark and Anna Kula both walked. Senior Haley Rath singled up the middle for two RBI to conclude scoring for the Lynx. The Owls managed to cross one more run before the game ended. Rath finished the game four-of-four at the plate with three RBI. Kula recorded three runs on three walks and a double.
