Memphis - Rhodes College women's basketball has been selected to travel to Richardson, Texas for the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. The 64-team field will include 43 automatic bids and 21 at-large selections.
Hosted by the No. 16/18-ranked University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Comets at the UTD Activity Center, the Lynx will face No. 11/9-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round on Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m. before the Comets host Texas Lutheran University later that night at 7 p.m. The winners of each will compete in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m. for a chance to advance to the NCAA sectionals March 8-9. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for students. Children 2 and under admitted free.

Rhodes defeated Birmingham-Southern 63-43, host Millsaps College 71-68 OT and Oglethorpe University 56-41 to win the Southern Athletic Association Tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid into the Big Dance. This is Rhodes fourth NCAA appearance (2013, 2014, 2015, 2019) as the team enters the tournament with a 17-11 overall record. The only meeting between UTD and Rhodes came in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA D-III Tournament, with the Comets advancing with a 63-38 victory. In 2014, Rhodes defeated Spalding University 83-59 before falling to Texas-Tyler in the second round (77-74). UMHB is making their first NCAA appearance in program history, having had previous success as NAIA members. The Cru women are 25-3 this season and went 15-1 in ASC play, winning the ASC West Division for the second straight year.
UTD enters this weekend's event with a 24-4 overall record after winning the American Southwest Conference with a stunning 63-58 upset of tournament host UMHB this past Saturday. UTD heads to the NCAA tournament for the fifth time in program history, also making appearances in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
Texas Lutheran advanced to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title with a 68-62 win over top-seeded Trinity. TLU is in the NCAA tournament for the second time in school history. The Bulldogs lost in the NCAA first round to John Carroll (Ohio) in 2014. The Lynx defeated the Bulldogs earlier this season 60-55.
