Memphis - Rhodes College baseball went 1-1 on Saturday after going 0-2 Friday against Greenville College and Fontbonne University. Rhodes is now 2-4 on the season.
The Lynx opened Saturday with a 13-2 victory over Greenville. The Lynx recorded 17 hits in the shortened, seven-inning contest and scored five runs in the fifth inning.
Jacob Dubs struck out eight Panthers and earned his first win of the season across 5.1 innings, allowing just one hit. At the plate,
Jacob Telli and
Jake Stacy both went three-of-four with three RBI and a run scored while
Paul Giacomazzi went two-of-three with two walks, three runs scored. Freshman
Wood Kimbrough also went three-of-four and hit his first career triple, double and RBI.
Against Fontbonne, Rhodes scored first by taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Bosma crossed the plate on a
Ben Wilson groundout to first base. The Griffins tied the game in the fourth after the Lynx committed a fielding error to begin the inning. Fontbonne then rallied two runs in the ninth to win the game.
John Ganucheau started on the mound for the Lynx and only allowed three hits and struck out five batters in eight innings of work as he totaled a 0.00 ERA.
