Memphis - Rhodes College softball improves to 5-1 on the season after 14-0 and 10-0 shutouts over NCAA DII LeMoyne-Owen College Wednesday afternoon. In three hours Rhodes tallied 24 runs, 22 hits, 10 stolen bases, three home runs and a no-hitter, all in 10 innings of play.
In the first game, this week's SAA Player of the Week,
Kendall Henry lifted a home run over the left field fence to score the game-winning run. Then in the third inning, this week's SAA Pitcher of the Week,
Lauren King hit two three-run home runs as Rhodes totaled 10 runs on seven hits and two errors to finish scoring in the game. King struck out 10 Magicians in five innings of work to earn her first career no-hitter.
In the second game, senior
Bri Maniscalco picked up her second win of the season after striking out six batters in four innings in the circle. The Lynx hit six doubles while fellow senior
Haley Rath tripled as Rhodes tallied three runs in the first inning followed by six in the second.
Rhodes continues their home stand, hosting Maryville College and Webster University this weekend. The Lynx play at noon and 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
