Jackson, Miss. - Rhodes College baseball finished the weekend with an 11-10 edge over LeTourneau University.
LeTourneau took a 6-1 lead before Rhodes tied the game with five runs in the fifth inning. Two sac flies in the sixth gave the Lynx some breathing room until the Yellow Jackets pulled within one in the bottom half of the sixth on a single up the middle. Both teams went three-up, three-down in the eighth. After taking a 9-7 lead on a wild pitch,
Jake Stacy, who tallied the first RBI of the game, then hit a two-run home run to left center, ultimately recording the winning RBI in the top of the ninth. The Lynx held off the Yellow Jackets who also scored three runs in the ninth and tried to make it four, but the Lynx cut off the hit up the middle and threw home for the final out.
John Fears earned his first collegiate victory after pitching the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. He went to the mound down 7-1 and left with an 8-7 lead.
Nick Bosma earned his first save of the season after coming in from right field to pitch for the eighth and ninth innings.
Rhodes recorded 15 hits in the win, which included Bosma connecting on three-of-four at-bats as well as
Ryan Palermo connecting on three-of-five at the plate. Stacy tallied three RBI while
