The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Lynx senior Alyssa Owens has been named the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week to open the 2019-20 season.

Owens led Rhodes to victory at the University of the Ozarks after recording 24 points in the season-opener where she was lights-out connecting on 5-of-9 three-point attempts. Two days later against Austin, she tallied 16 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

On the weekend, Owens made 50 percent of her shots from outside the three-point arc as she connected on eight of 16 attempts. She also shot .500 in the field overall and .800 from the free throw line. Owens averaged 20 points per game, 4.5 assists per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. 

The Lynx, who are 1-1 on the season, will host Dominican on Sunday at 12 p.m. in their home opener.
