Women's Soccer Falls to No. 10-Ranked Centre in SAA Championship

Danville, Ky. - Rhodes College women's soccer held No. 10-ranked Centre College scoreless for 40 minutes before the Colonels netted the game-winner. The loss puts the Lynx 13-6 on the season, the most wins in a season for the program since 2013.

Centre scored on their fourth shot of the first half. A long cross from near the sideline found a Colonel's head outside the opposite post for the game-winner which was re-directed back to the bottom right corner. The Colonels then went up 2-0 a minute into the second half when SAA[-leading scorer Alana Hughes fired a shot from the top of the box. Centre would have three more shots denied by Lynx goalkeeper Abby Roevens in the next four minutes. Immediately after the third save, Rhodes had a fast break but sophomore Alli Cundiff's shot was saved by Centre.

Hughes followed later with the final goal in the 66th minute. Centre finished the game with a 22-4 shot advantage and 15-1 advantage in corner kicks.

A sophomore, Roevens recorded nine saves in the game. Senior Carly Cone and junior Liz Vega earned All-Tournament team accolades.

The Lynx will lose defenders Carly Cone and Taylor Ryan, as well as midfielder Katelyn Curtis to graduation. All-conference honors will be released Monday morning.
