Memphis - Rhodes College men's basketball suffered a loss at home against Berry College Sunday afternoon. Rhodes' 77-65 loss takes them to 4-14 on the season and 1-6 in conference. Berry is now 12-5 overall and 5-2 in SAA play.
The game was tied 18-all before the Vikings took a 28-24 halftime lead. Berry secured three straight three-pointers to take their largest lead of the game (20 points) with 12:31 to play. The Lynx managed to go on two eight-point runs and pulled within five points with 6:49 left in the game. The Vikings managed to take a 10-point advantage but the Lynx cut that lead back to six with 1:16 to play. Berry, however, scored their final six points on free throws to win on the road.
Bryce Berry led Rhodes with 16 points while
Daniel Darst wrapped up 10 boards. The Lynx finished the game shooting 42.1% overall, 26.1% from three-point range (six treys) and 61.1% (11-of-18) from the free throw line.
The Vikings made 10 treys and shot 40% from long range. They sank 17 free throws and held a 40-28 rebounding advantage over the Lynx.
Rhodes will travel to Oglethorpe and Berry next weekend before they return to Mallory for Senior Day before their 8 p.m. game against Centre on Friday, February 1.
