Rhodes junior, Alyssa Owens (Russellville, Ark./Russellville) has been named as the Southern Athletic Association's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for January 14, 2019 as announced by the conference.

For the week, Owens averaged 15.5 points per game with 50% accuracy. On Sunday, she led Rhodes to an impressive 93-49 win over conference-leader, Millsaps. The junior totaled seven three-point shots for the Lynx.

Against Birmingham-Southern, Owens finished with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. She also added four rebounds and six assists.

Two days later, Owens scored 16 points while making 57.1 percent of her attempts against Millsaps. She connected on four of her five three-point attempts.

Overall, Owens ranks seventh in scoring and third in assists among conference players. She is ranked eighth among NCAA Division III student-athletes in free throw percentage (90.7%).

The Lynx host Oglethorpe on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by Berry on Sunday at 3 p.m.
