Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse ends 2018 campaign in Third Round of NCAA Tournament

Gettysburg, Pa. - After a relatively even start, the No. 3-ranked Gettysburg Bullets defeated Rhodes College men's lacrosse 22-9 in the third round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

Gettysburg got scoring started almost 30 second into the game before Steven Yowan assisted Matt Perez for Rhodes' first goal to tie the game. Senior Justin Powers lasered a bouncer along the ground to give Rhodes a 2-1 advantage with 10:31 to play in their first and only lead of the game, but the Bullets responded to tie the game after a wrap-around by Jack Fletcher for his second goal of the game.

Link made two big saves but two costly throwing errors allowed Gettysburg to take a 3-2 advantage on a one-on-one situation with a third of the period left to play.

The Lynx defense effectively stopped a Bullets' fast break situation before the hosts settled and scored three more goals to take a 6-2 lead headed into the second quarter.
Senior Ryan Fennelly ended Rhodes' scoring drought with a wrap-around goal as the Lynx trailed 10-3 with under six minutes left in the first half. The Bullets led 13-3 at halftime.

Gettysburg only held a 9-6 scoring advantage during the second half of the game. Tyler Milwit scored in a man-up situation two minutes into the third quarter. He also netted Rhodes' next two goals, tallying all three marks in the period. The Bullets opened the final quarter with five straight goals before the Lynx secured the final three goals of the game from Powers, Addison Mueller and Ryan Marasco.

Rhodes finish their 2018 campaign with a 14-3 overall record, tying the program-high for wins in a season, set just last year, however their season-ending loss clipped a program-record eight-game win streak. Be sure to stay tuned for possibly more postseason honors to come later this month.
