Memphis - A back-and-forth game early on between Rhodes women's lacrosse and Centre College quickly turned in favor of the Lynx in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Championship game held at Mason Field. Down 5-4, senior attacker,
Kendall Cunningham, this year's SAA Offensive Player of the Year, netted a beautiful quick stick off a feed from
Olivia Holmes behind the cage. That goal sparked a five goal run for the Lynx who finished the first half with an 11-7 advantage.
Centre wouldn't get any closer as the Lynx scored 13 goals to the Colonels' seven in the second half. Rhodes is now 14-3 on the year.
Paving the way for the Lynx to return to the NCAA Tournament was Cunningham who set a new program record for most goals in a game (11) after scoring five in the first half and six in the second half. She ties senior teammate
Maggie Rippeto with the most points in a game.
Ashley Doyle tallied 14 draw controls win, her third time this season acquiring the newest record for most draw controls in a game. Doyle's performance was critical to the Lynx achieving a 41-25 shot advantage over the Colonels as SAA Defensive Player of the Year, Natalie Marek, saved 11 of Rhodes' shots.
Rippeto finished the game with five goals and two assists while Holmes tallied four goals and an assist and
Erin Gleeson added six draw controls for the Lynx.
For Centre, Haden Gibbons led her team with five points as she and Hannah Bellamah both tallied four goals.
