Memphis - It was a close game until the eighth inning between the No. 2-seed, Rhodes College, and the No. 6-seed Centre College Colonels Saturday afternoon.

Centre singled in a run in the first inning before Rhodes freshman Shortstop Will Heurtin homered to give Rhodes a one-run edge. Centre tied the game after Cameron Duggins was hit by a pitch in the sixth. Heurtin added another RBI to give the Lynx the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh. Rhodes added some breathing room after crossing three more runs in the eighth including two from a Zac Lange single up the middle. He then scored when Jacob Telli roped a double to left field. 

Defensively, Centre's Drew Schacht made a spectacular play in left field catching the ball over his shoulder, raising praise from fans from both teams in attendance. Teammate Parker Selin then made a diving catch off the pitcher's mound to erase a Lynx sacrifice bunt.

For Rhodes, Nathan Mirochnick nor Alex Garrett allowed a hit in their time on the mound. Garrett picked up his third win of the year after striking out two Colonels in 1.1 innings of work. At the plate, Telli went three-of-four with a walk and Lange finished three-of-five with two RBI and two runs scored.

The win advances Rhodes to the Southern Athletic Association's 2018 Tournament Championship game at Berry College. The Lynx will make their fifth straight tournament championship appearance starting April 28th in a best of three matchup.
