Mount Berry, Ga. - Rhodes women's tennis fell at Berry College 6-3 Friday, but not before putting up a fight.
Rhodes' top two contenders,
Dasha Safarian and
Caroline Doherty, defeated Berry's Sara Myers and Kathryn Barker 8-1 in No. 1-doubles. The Lynx secured seven points from Berry in the other two doubles matches, but fell 8-4 and 8-3.
Berry won four singles matches, but Safarian and Doherty fought hard to give Rhodes two more points in the conference matchup. Safarian won her first set at No. 1-singles 6-2 before falling 6-1. She then out-lasted her opponent 10-8 in the super tiebreaker. Doherty, at No. 2-singles, won 6-4 before Berry turned the score around and took the second set 6-4, but Doherty remained strong and won her super tiebreaker 10-7.
Rhodes will play at Oglethorpe at 10 a.m. EST Saturday, March 31.
