Jackson, Miss. - Rhodes baseball earned their fourth Southern Athletic Association win Friday night at Millsaps College after freshman
Will Heurtin hit his first collegiate home run in the top of the ninth to ensure the Lynx remain unbeaten in conference play. Heurtin went tallied three runs an RBI and four assists on the night.
Rhodes is now 9-4 on the year while the Majors drop their first conference game.
Nick Bosma switched from third base to the mound for Rhodes in the bottom of the eighth and pitched two innings to earn his first win of the season.
Ryan Palermo, the first baseman, went two-of-three with a double and two runs batted in.
The Majors held Rhodes scoreless for four innings and tallied three runs including a two-run home run. The Lynx scored two runs in the fifth to cut their lead to one before tying the game in the seventh on Palermo's double to score Heurtin.
Jack Mercer got the start and pitched seven innings. He tallied two earned runs, six hits and five strikeouts.
Barrett Kaul struck out 10 Lynx before Connor Haynes took the loss.
Rhodes and Millsaps will meet up at 1 p.m. Saturday for a doubleheader in Jackson.
