Birmingham, Ala. - Rhodes College softball led 2-1 before host Birmingham-Southern tallied three runs in the second and sixth innings to lead 7-2. The Lynx failed to quit and notched two runs in the seventh as BSC took the weekend series 3-0.
Two doubles allowed the Panthers to score in the first inning just center fielder
Kirsten Samuels doubled to lead off for Rhodes She and
Jill Healy both scored on a
Peyton Clark single up the middle for the one-run advantage. Defensive errors in the bottom half of the inning allowed BSC's three runs to score. In the sixth the Panthers scored on two hits, two walks and a sacrifice fly.
Karrah Flores singled to lead off the seventh for Rhodes and after a
Haley Rath single and
Kayla Rose ground out, the Lynx were on second and third with two outs when
Marisa Moore stepped up to the plate. Moore drove in her team's final two runs on a single down the right field line.
Rhodes will return to Memphis to host a non-conference game against Christian Brothers University on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Lynx will also host Sewanee this weekend.
