Memphis - In their third matchup of the season, Birmingham-Southern defeated Rhodes men's basketball 98-82 to go up 2-1 in the series this year. The loss ends Rhodes 2017-18 campaign with a 13-13 record. The Lynx and BSC both went 7-7 in conference play.
First-half rebounding put the Lynx behind 47-41 at halftime as BSC held a 25-13 boards advantage. BSC also led in shooting overall, averaging over 50% while Rhodes maintained a 34.5% average.
Rhodes pulled within one point after an Anesu Nyawata layup with 15 minutes left to play, but then an 11-point run in the next three minutes by the Panthers broke open the game just enough.
During the second half, BSC maintained scoring from inside the perimeter while Nyawata put up two treys on three attempts and totaled 15 points as he tried to keep his college playing career going. He finished with 18 points and three three-pointers in the game.
Preston Giroux led the Lynx with eight rebounds.
