Atlanta, Ga. - Rhodes volleyball downed Oglethorpe in five sets Sunday afternoon to move to 12-10 on the year. The Lynx solidified their final conference road win with a 17-15 fifth set victory.
Rhodes won the first set 25-16 before dropping the next two sets to the Stormy Petrels. In the fourth set, the Lynx won 25-18 to force their seventh fifth set of the year. During the final set, Rhodes led 14-12 until Oglethorpe scored three straight points which included two service aces to lead 15-14. Rhodes responded by scoring the final three points to win the game on kills from
Morgan Hill and
Kelsey Glasper as well as the game-ending ace, served up by
Camila Zimmerman.
The Lynx recorded 14 kills in the first and fourth sets as well as 12 kills and the game-high .458 hitting percentage in the fifth set. Glasper and Zimmerman earned double-doubles with 18 kills/10 digs and 21 kills (career-high)/19 digs respectively as did freshman
Marissa Hall with 30 assists and 20 digs, both career-highs. Rhodes totaled five Lynx with double-digit digs in the win, led by libero
Mary Frances Daniel (23).
Heather Antrim wrapped up the Lynx defense with 10 digs and three blocks. Hill led Rhodes with a .310 hitting percentage, roping in 11 kills on 29 attempts. She also recorded three blocks in the game.
The Lynx wrap up regular season conference play at home next weekend, which serves as Homecoming for Rhodes. The Lynx host Sewanee on Saturday at noon, followed by senior day action on Sunday against Centre, also at noon.
