Louisville, Ky. - Competing in a field of 42 teams from Division I, II, and III, the Lynx placed 30
th out of 42 teams in the Blue Division at the Great Louisville Cross Country Classic.
Ashley Litoff led Rhodes, finishing 13
th overall out of 356 runners in a time of 18:15. Senior
Abby Watkins finished second for the Lynx in a time of 20:02, followed by
Reagan Alley (20:25),
Ellery Hayden (20:19), and
Elise Moix (20:20). Aquinas college won the team title (103), followed by Grand Valley State (180), and South Alabama (219).
"It's been a bit of a tough week for us," said head coach
Robert Shankman. "We've been battling a few injuries, having to hold out a few athletes, but I am confident we will regroup and be at full strength in a few weeks. Our team goal is to again qualify for the national championship meet and improve on last year's finish."
The Rhodes women, currently ranked 34
th nationally, will next compete in two weeks (Oct 14) at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet at Principia College is Elsah, Ill. The meet is expected to feature several of the top nationally ranked programs and will serve as final tune-up before competing at the SAA Conference Championship and NCAA Regional Championship in November.
